My Kryptonite

So today I was doing a homework assignment that involved me researching stock information for a company in the apparel industry.  Naturally, I chose Coach, my number one love. And, naturally, I got completely caught up in perusing the site and falling in love with literally every single piece on there!  I honestly cannot help it, I just adore how the designs are edgy and new but at the same time you can just feel how distinguished and rich with history they are.  This is one of my favorites, the Rhinestone XI Spotlight Bag, from their Poppy collection.  Now does anyone have $550 to loan me?  Haha

Visit the site yourself!  www.coach.com....just try not to drool all over the keyboard.

New Line to Look Out For!

I quite honestly could not be any more excited for Alexa Chung by Madewell.  I love the relaxed, downtown yet chic-ly put together looks that they both come up with.  This is truly a match made in heaven!

The collection will be in stores both online and in Madewell stores in late August...let's hope I can wait that long!

Try, Try Again, Again...Again

Do you guys remember Daniel Franco? He is the guy who appeared in not just the first, but also the second season of
Project Runway, and yes, the one who proclaimed, "I love you Heidi".  Well apparently he now has set his sights on another reality-TV genre.  On Tuesday night's American Idol, which was focused on a round of L.A. auditions, Franco made a brief appearance in a quick recap of Adam Lambert-lookalikes.  But yep, he has decided to add a pursuit of singing stardom to his repertoire.  The problem is that he is over the Idol age limit, but when asked about this, he commented that there are no such age limitations on The X-Factor, which Simon will most likely be bringing to the U.S. in the near future.

Well, now I'm wondering if I'm going to end up sitting next to him at some Survivor auditions as well...at least together we could probably find some killer new way to wear our buffs!

Whoah!!

I can't believe I didn't know they made these!  So I was searching for some things on Amazon.com and found these Project Runway-licensed design activities.  They are awesome, and have things ranging from illustration to sewing to shoe and T-shirt design kits!  There is even a runway makeup set!  Totally a cute gift for any little kid you know...or a little kid stuck in a college girl's body!  Haha!

Here are the links for the ones I've posted on the left, an Ultimate Design Kit and a Fashion Design and Illustration Studio Set:

Style I Love

It is no secret of mine that I loooove Audrey Hepburn and the styles she has presented through her movies.  Of course no one can refute the iconic images she and her Givenchy dresses created in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

But I have to say, when it comes to her wardrobe and
beauty, I find Charade to be my favorite.
Her looks are simple and yet so glamorous, which, my friends, is so so chic!

OMG!

Check this out! It's my textbook for my History of Costume class.

Never have I been so excited for class! As you could probably guess from this cover picture, it is filled with absolutely stunning photographs.  I can't stop looking through it, I feel like when I am done with the course I should keep this book on display on my coffee table or something!

It is:  Survey of Historic Costume: A History of Western Dress, fifth edition, by Phyllis G. Tortora and Keith Eubank, and is published by Fairchild Books.

Did You Know?

...That the infamous conical bra Madonna wore on her 80's music tour was designed by Jean Paul Gaultier?
...That when the first pair of Levi's (originally intended for miners) were sold in the mid 1850's, they were paid for in gold dust ($6 worth of gold dust!)?
...That those iconic red soles that appear on every pair of Christian Louboutin shoes came around when he created his first pair, and on a whim painted the bottom with his secretary's             nail polish?

Well if you didn't know before, you do now!

Golden Globes Glamour

Okay, so I have chosen my personal favorite look from last night's Golden Globe awards and the winner is...Christina Aguilera!  Haha, when I was thinking ahead of time of who I was expecting to be dressed to impress, she definitely was not one who jumped to my mind, despite the beautiful woman that she is.  But I absolutely cannot get enough of this look!  What I love the most is the blend of a classic, romantic feel with the current "it" trend of metallics and a more current, futuristic look.  And aside from the dress, I find the hair and makeup dead-on too!  Major props to Christina, you were a gorgeous lady last night!

Photos were attained from www.goldenglobes.org.  This site and also www.eonline.com had some great photo coverage.  Check them out and find your own faves!

Check it Out!

There are two awesome exhibits going on right now in my hometown!  At the Mint Museum of Charlotte, both sky-high heels and 60 years worth of haute couture designs (from the museum's own collection) are taking the spotlight in exhibits "The Heights of Fashion: Platform Shoes Then and Now" and "The Art of Affluence: Haute Couture and Luxury Fashions 1947-2007"
I personally went to The Art of Affluence last summer while I was home, and it was filled with stunning, inspiring, and definitely drool-worthy pieces, like this Dontatella Versace cocktail number.  Guess I'll have to plan another trip back soon to see The Heights of Fashion!

For more information, visit the Mint Museum's page online:   http://www.mintmuseum.org/current-exhibition.html

Now That It's Officially Thursday...

Who's excited for Project Runway tonight?!! I know I can't wait to see Heidi rock it and try to recreate some of the challenges once I get my sewing machine!  And the best part...it's back in NYC!

Check it out at 10 pm on Lifetime!
