Recessionista Gold

Over the past few months, Kmart's ads have really been catching my eyes in fashion magazines.  The last time I bought something from a Kmart, it was a sky blue skirt with a leather lace up the middle, when I was about 13.  But the looks featured in the March issue of Vogue magazine are definitely covetable!

This has been by no means a mistake.  John Goodman, Executive VP of home and apparel for Sears Holding Apparel, which owns Kmart, says that they are really looking to gain credibility in the apparel channel in the market.  And a major step that they are taking towards that goal is by vending a line by none other than Selena Gomez.  Selena, at 17, is a teen queen starring on the Disney channel's "Wizard of Waverly Place"
Tuesday's WWD magazine had the full story on this line.  The line, entitled Dream Out
Loud, has the look of  "Texan cowgirl meets the glam Boho chic of Hollywood".  It carries everything from a jersey blazer to a boyfriend cardigan to short cowgirl boots, and each piece will retail for $24 or less.  Here on the right, Gomez appears on the cover of WWD in one her looks for the line.  Looking towards the future, Gomez would like to begin to expand into the teen guy's department as well.
The line debuts July 15.  I know I definitely will be coming through, with the number one item on my list the boyfriend cardigan!
